For one of our clients, we are looking for a Chemical Processing Technician
Responsibilities:
- Perform chemical mixing and/or processing of oligonucleotides.
- Keep all the reagent bottles, pressurized gas cylinders and manifold liquid systems at levels to achieve successful operation without interruption in the Value Streams and QC Department.
- Operate instruments and equipment needed for chemical processing of reagents and other products needed by all Value Streams and QC Department.
- Utilize the ERP system to create work orders, transfer material and decrement from the system.
- Take ownership of chemical waste by changing waste containers, disposing of waste material and assisting the warehouse department with waste pickups.
- Interact with internal and external parties and communicate about waste and raw material handling. §
- Act as a member of the spill response team.
- Receive additional cross training as specified by management.
- Acts as a support of the oligonucleotide production process, which can include synthesis, deprotection, purification, desalting, and or final processing of oligonucleotides
- Operate DNA/RNA synthesizers, HPLC’s and/or other instruments in the lab that are needed to complete the tasks listed above.
- Perform calibration, maintenance, cleaning tasks on designated equipment as scheduled or requested.
- Perform all necessary decontamination procedures.
- Appropriately document all aspects of chemical processing processes.
- Fill out all required checklists and perform verification for others when necessary.
- Follow all work instructions and adhere to all company policies and procedures. Strictly adhere to customer specific as well as general work instructions and SOPs.
- Maintain a constant awareness for product defects, which may occur from the improper performance of specific tasks.
- Interpret QC results and recognize when failures warrant further investigation.
- Troubleshoot quality or instrument issues. Submit and follow up on work orders when necessary
- Report any problems to management.
- Train new Technicians and assist in the organization of it.
- Perform other duties as specified by management.
- Adhere to all requirements for the health, cleanliness, personal practices, and clothing of personnel if contact between such personnel and product or environment could reasonably be expected to have an adverse effect on product quality.
Profile:
- High school degree required (required in science related field).
- Bachelor’s degree in Science related field preferred or equivalent job experience.
- Proficient computer skills which includes knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
- Ability to work punctual and accurate in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to adapt to changes in the process.
- Ability to work in a group or independently.
- Ability to interact in a professional manner with employees, and all levels of management.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Ability to adhere to defined protocols
- Able to read, write and speak in English fluently. Other languages are a plus
- Able to work 40 hours per week. late shift 1:30pm to 10pm
